A director of a local program for people with substance abuse problems isn’t surprised by a major meth drug bust in northeast Wisconsin.
Apricity CEO Michelle Devine Giese is seeing an increase in the number of people looking for treatment for meth addiction.
She says opioids are now second or third on the list, in part because doctors are much more careful about prescribing the drugs. She believes cocaine use is also on the rise.
Devine Giese says it seems like the drug of choice runs in cycles. She believes that’s why there shouldn’t be a focus on one drug but addiction as a whole.
