Outagamie County’s district attorney says a Fox Valley Metro police officer was justified in shooting at a suspected drunk driver.
The officer killed Eduard Lopez-Ucles in the roundabout at Highways 55 and OO in Kaukauna. Investigators for the state justice department say Lopez-Ucles led police on a high-speed chase that started in Appleton, and continued into Little Chute and Kaukauna.
After they were able to stop him in the roundabout, an officer stood near the front of the truck with his gun drawn. They say Lopez-Ucles squealed his tires and revved his engine.
They say when the driver nearly hit him, the officer started firing because he feared he, or other officers in the roundabout, could be killed.
