If Majority Republicans in the Legislature don’t take up proposed changes to gun laws later this week, Democrats could continue to bring the bills back.
Attorney General Josh Kaul says Governor Evers might keep calling new special sessions, in hopes of requiring universal background checks and creating a “red flag law.”
Kaul tells Josh Dukelow on Fresh Take that letting judges order people to turn over their guns, if they’re a threat to themselves or others, doesn’t violate the 2nd amendment.
There will be a special session on the gun bills on Thursday. The Republican leaders of the Assembly and Senate oppose them.
Kaul points to a recent Marquette Law School poll that shows about 80 percent support both proposals.
