The state parks system would get more than $5 million for improvements in a proposal from a local lawmaker.
Republican Sen. Rob Cowles of Allouez admits the state has been letting the condition of the parks slip. He says a number of parks have old and dilapidated water systems and they need to be fixed. He says they can’t let people get sick by using the water.
Cowles’ bill would provide money for upgrades of drinking water, and toilet systems in the parks.
The Senate approved the proposal, and it now goes to the Assembly.
