A former Appleton alderman is running for mayor of the city.
Jim Clemons says he didn’t run for re-election after serving on the city council for 20 years, because he wanted to give others a chance.
He says he’s been following local government from a distance, and some of the same issues are being talked about. He says issues like the proposed library and U.S. Venture headquarters still need to be addressed.
Clemons believes the downtown will always be in flux, with smaller companies coming and going.
He’s the third candidate to get in the race. City spokesman Chad Doran and Robin Kettleson are also running.
Incumbent Mayor Tim Hanna is not seeking re-election next spring.
