A proposal to ban conversion therapy for minors in Appleton is proving to be controversial.
The city’s Board of Health heard from people on both sides of the issue for more than an hour this morning. Board members will wait until their next meeting to make a recommendation to the city council.
The situation got a little contentious before the meeting ended, and Mayor Tim Hanna tried to explain what’s next. He thinks board members want to take time, to take the comments into consideration, before they make a decision.
The ban would cover state-licensed therapists.
