Police will have extra officers on the streets for New Year’s Eve tonight, and local Safe Ride programs are one option for people to get home.
Winnebago County Tavern League President Patrick Purtell says about one-third of the bars and restaurants offer free cab rides. He says the tavern league pays for 90 percent of the rides, and the bar or restaurant covers the rest.
Neenah police are again paying for a special cab. Free rides are available from a bar to a home from 10:30 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day. The phone number to call is 920-464-0731.
