Runners will notice some changes at the Green Bay Cellcom Marathon this year.
All of the running events will be held on Sunday, May 17th, instead of spread over the weekend. The start and end are also moving back to the area around Lambeau Field.
Co-Director Alyssa Cotter says they wanted to consolidate their resources so they could provide more money to charities. She thinks it will also create more energy on race day.
The Green Bay Marathon hosted its “kickoff event” last night.
Runners heard from Will Kocken. He set a world record at last year’s marathon for wearing a 100-pound rucksack on the course.
Kocken says the first step is to believe that running a marathon is possible. He says once that’s done, anything is possible.
This year’s Green Bay Marathon will start and end near Lambeau Field, instead of the downtown.
