The ice on Lake Winnebago isn’t in good shape with the sturgeon spearing season about a month away.
Recent warm weather and high winds broke up some ice.
Don Herman of Sunk Dive and Ice Services is hoping for a cold snap soon. He believes they’ll need about a week of near-zero temperatures to create enough ice. He says there’s open water on parts of the lake right now.
Herman says there’s enough ice along the shoreline of Lake Winnebago and in the bays for people to walk to go ice fishing. But he says they need a lot more, before people can start driving cars and trucks onto the lake.
