Appleton will be featured in a new Discovery Channel show that focuses on communities that are on the top of lists.
Comedian Mo Mandel is the host of “Small Town Throw Down.” He says the show is inspired by online articles that declare towns “the dumbest,” “most boring” or in Appleton’s case, “the drunkest.”
Mandel says the problem is the people making those claims don’t visit the community. He wants to give them a sense of what the towns are really about.
Mandel says he’s going to use a big Slip-N-Slide at the Appleton Yacht Club to slide into the Fox River on Sunday. He’ll be in downtown Appleton tomorrow to talk with people.
The show is supposed to be on Discovery Channel late this spring.
