Several Appleton officers and a K-9 helped get a wanted man into custody, after what police are calling a violent struggle.
Three officers had minor injuries, but they returned to duty right away.
Police say they were tracking 26-year-old Deandre Rembert, and he was in a car at a gas station, at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Oneida Street around 9 p.m. yesterday. They say Rembert attacked an officer and ran off into a neighborhood.
Officers found him, and police say Rembert tried to get one of their guns, and yelled at them to just shoot him. They also used a Taser, but it wasn’t effective.
A K-9 helped get Rembert into custody, and the man was treated at a hospital for a minor dog bite.
Police say Rembert tried to escape while officers were bringing him from the hospital to the jail.
He’s facing several possible charges, including battery to a police officer.
Rembert had warrants out for his arrest, and police say he got away from officers two other times.
