Lawmakers are starting to work on proposals to help rural areas and dairy farmers.
Majority Republicans in the Legislature opened a special session on the issues today.
Governor Evers announced several proposals during last week’s State of the State address.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says they’ll see what everyone can support. He says it’s a good idea to work to improve exports of dairy products. He’d like to find a way to lower health insurance costs for farmers.
Vos says they’ll hold committee hearings on the bills, and give lawmakers a chance to come up with their own ideas. He’s confident they can at least pass some of them by the end of the month.
