The Appleton police department is giving people another option to find out what’s going on in an emergency.
Officer Meghan Cash says they’re going to start sending notifications through an app called “YOU Get It First.” She says people have to search for them on Facebook or Twitter, to see what the department is putting out. She says the app lets them send push notifications to phones.
Cash says they plan to send alerts when there are major traffic situations, if there’s a missing person, or when there’s a large police presence in an area.
De Pere is the only other department in northeast Wisconsin that uses the “YOU Get It First” app.
