A flower shop in downtown Appleton is closing, after 66 years in business.
Charles the Florist owner Susan Soczka says Friday will be the last official day at the store, in the 200 block of E. College Avenue. She says they’re so grateful for all of their customers over the years. She says it’s sad that they won’t be helping them anymore.
Soczka bought the flower shop in 2007. She says at that time, she planned to leave when all of her children moved out of the house. Her youngest son joined the Army last fall, and she decided to move in with her fiance.
Soczka says she talked with some of her designers about buying the store, but it didn’t work out.
Charles Hoffman opened Charles the Florist in 1954, and it was originally in the former Conway Hotel. He died in 2006.
