Governor Evers is vetoing a tax cut plan from Majority Republicans in the Legislature.
The Assembly and Senate approved $250 million in income tax cuts, and another $45 million in personal property taxes for businesses.
Evers wants to give public schools $250 million, and cut school property taxes by $130 million.
He hopes to negotiate with GOP lawmakers, and he’d accept income tax or property tax relief. But he says any package would have to include pieces for schools.
Republicans ignored the governor’s proposal. Their plan would’ve given the average taxpayer about a $100 income tax cut.
