The state Senate unanimously approved a coronavirus response bill this afternoon and Governor Evers signed it into law .a short time later.
The state will now be able to get $2.3 billion in federal stimulus money. That includes funding to increase unemployment payments and Medicaid reimbursements.
The new law also temporarily eliminates the state’s one-week waiting period to get unemployment benefits.
The Assembly overwhelmingly approved the bill yesterday.
Evers released a statement, saying it falls short of what’s needed, but he’s not willing to delay the state’s response.
