Over the first two weeks of the “safer at home” order Winnebago County businesses lost more than $3 million dollars.
A study by the UW-Oshkosh Center for Research and Services looked at the impact on 72 companies.
Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce President John Casper says it could have been worse because the two largest employers in Oshkosh are still open. He says a product line Amcor bought from Bemis is still in high demand. That includes food, pharmaceutical, and medical packaging.
The Oshkosh Corporation’s defense division and Pierce Manufacturing are both running at near-normal levels. JLG is shutting down though because demand for construction equipment is down substantially.
