A new landfill will be taking shape this year in southern Brown County.
The county is building it on more than 300 acres, along Highway IL, in the Town of Holland. The site is a little more than a mile west of Highway 57.
County Resource Recovery Director Dean Haen says they started the work late last month. He says they’ll be removing 1.3 million cubic yards of clay, as part of the project.
They’ll also build roads and operations buildings.
Brown County partners with Outagamie and Winnebago County on a regional garbage and recycling program.
The current landfill in Outagamie County could be full by the end of 2022.
Winnebago County built the first landfill for the partnership.
