Governor Evers says the state needs to confront society’s comfort with racism.
He wants people to take action to make systemic change. He released a video today, with a message about the death of George Floyd and the aftermath.
Evers says racism has never really gone away, it has only manifested itself in different ways, including incarceration rates, wages, and education inequality.
He’s calling on the Legislature to pass a bill that would create statewide principles for police officers to use force.
He’s also urging local leaders to step up, and put in the necessary work.
