About 95 percent of the police department’s budget in Oshkosh goes to pay for officers and staff.
Chief Dean Smith says he’s not sure how they would function, if they were “defunded.” He doesn’t see that happening in Oshkosh, because the community is safe, and people believe in law enforcement.
Smith says officers are usually very active, responding to calls.
