The Green Bay area and northeast Wisconsin will lose about $15 million in economic impact now that the Wisconsin Badgers won’t play Notre Dame in a football game at Lambeau Field.
The game is canceled because of the pandemic.
Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau President Brad Toll says the tourism industry is in a depression. He says they’ve gone through SARS, bird flu, mad cow disease, 9-11 and the great recession, and he believes the pandemic is worse than all of them combined.
Toll says since March, the community has lost about $70 million in business from canceled meetings, conventions, and small tournaments.
