The plans for Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac will move forward without any changes.
The city council is rejecting a proposal that would have banned any new buildings on Lighthouse Point. There’s a proposal to put a mixed-use building there, possibly with a private restaurant.
The council also denied a request from some community members to hold an advisory referendum on the plan this fall.
Council President Brian Kolstad believes that would be premature, until they get more information.
The council is waiting for the results of a feasibility study that’s looking at the potential uses for the new building.
