More adults are dying by suicide in the Fox Cities.
The updated LIFE Study shows rates went up from 2016 and 2018 in Winnebago, Outagamie, and Calumet counties. They were between 17 and 21 deaths per 100,000 people.
Tony Gonzalez of the United Way Fox Cities says they also found more children didn’t have health insurance during that same time. He says the percentage almost doubled from 2016 to 2018 in Outagamie and Winnebago counties. The totals went from nearly two percent to almost four percent.
The number of adults without health insurance also rose by nine percent in the Fox Cities areas.
