Governor Evers says the federal government should’ve stepped in months ago to make sure there wouldn’t be a shortage of testing supplies.
He says President Trump could’ve set up a nationwide testing system, and used the National Defense Act to get companies to produce the necessary supplies.
He says it’s ridiculous for all 50 states to be competing with each other for scarce resources, when the federal government has the authority, ability, and resources to make it happen in a better way.
Some health care providers, like Advocate Aurora Health, at least temporarily closed most of their community testing centers because of supply issues. The sites are still open at Aurora BayCare in Green Bay, and Aurora Sinai in Milwaukee. They also aren’t always testing patients before undergoing surgery anymore.
