The head of Prevea Health is concerned about the new guidelines from the CDC on coronavirus testing.
Dr. Ashok Rai tells Action 2 News there’s a lack of scientific basis to the recommendation that people without symptoms don’t need to get tested for COVID-19, after being exposed to a positive case. He says it leaves some experts scratching their heads, about the timing, and why there was a change.
Rai points out the CDC still encourages people to follow state recommendations for testing. Wisconsin suggests anyone exposed to a positive coronavirus case get tested, even if they don’t have symptoms.
He says it’s also important that the quarantine guideline is still in place, so if someone was exposed to a person with COVID-19, they’d have to quarantine for 14 days.
