A man convicted of slipping an abortion drug to his pregnant girlfriend will spend 21 more years in prison.
Manishkumar Patel was resentenced in Outagamie County court, after his initial one was thrown out in 2018. He was sentenced to 22 years back then.
He’ll also spend seven years on probation, instead of the 5-1/2 half he was originally given.
Patel was charged in 2007, and he was on the run for about nine years after posting a $750,000 bond and skipping town.
Prosecutors say he put an abortion pill in his girlfriend’s smoothie, and she later had a miscarriage. He was caught by U.S. Border Patrol agents in northern New York in January of 2017.
