The statewide coronavirus numbers have been down a bit over the past two weeks, but that hasn’t been the case in the Fox Cities.
Appleton Public Health Officer Kurt Eggebrecht says after two encouraging weeks, they’re expecting to set a record for the second straight time. There were 92 confirmed cases last week, and there are already 91 this week, with two days left.
He says large gatherings of 50 or more people are a big reason. He says some people are going to events outside the area, and testing positive after they get home.
Eggebrecht says surrounding communities in the Fox Cities are also seeing spikes. Outagamie County has had a surge in cases over the past couple of weeks.
