Coronavirus cases started jumping in Wisconsin around the same time college campuses opened.
Thirty-nine percent of cases last week were 18 to 24 year olds.
Dr. Ryan Westergaard of the state Department of Health Services believes dorms on campus have contributed in a major way. He says studies have shown they’re high-risk places.
Westergaard also thinks students getting together inside, at bars, restaurants, and other places without masks are also major factors.
He says they need to find out how to prevent the spread on campuses. He says it’s also important that students don’t give it to seniors, and others with a higher risk of complications.
