All schools in the Oshkosh district will be moving to only online classes on Thursday.
The decision comes one day after administrators announced West and North high schools would be shifting to all virtual learning.
Superintendent Vickie Cartwright says they made the decision because of spiking coronavirus cases in the Oshkosh area and Winnebago County. She says they’re seeing a lot of community spread that’s coming into the schools, and the issue isn’t in-school spread, from student to student.
Cartwright says at this point, they’re not confident they can provide a safe environment for students and staff.
The district will evaluate the local COVID-19 numbers on October 8th. The earliest students could come back to classrooms is October 12th.
