System President Tommy Thompson says their work to prevent the spread at the schools is starting to pay off. While he admits they’ve had some “eruptions,” the students have responded since the shift to online classes at some campuses.
Thompson says they’re stressing to students that they come to campus for an education, and not just to party.
UW-Madison is planning to start phasing in a return to in-person classes over the next week. The school is also lifting a quarantine on two dorms that had the most coronavirus cases.
