State election officials are still encouraging voters to mail in their ballots in time for them to reach their local clerk’s offices by election day.
A federal judge ruled earlier this week that as long as ballots are postmarked by election day, clerks could count them, if they arrive up to six days later. Majority Republicans in the Legislature are appealing.
State Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe says since there isn’t a final decision, they’re not promoting anything, because they don’t want to confuse voters.
The federal judge put the ruling on hold for a week to let any groups file an appeal.
