The state Department of Veterans Affairs is dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19 at the King Veterans Home in Waupaca County.
In a letter sent to family members last Friday, staff report three residents and three staff members tested positive in the past week. That brings the total number of cases to eight residents and four staff.
Seven of the veterans live in Olson Hall, and the other is in MacArthur Hall.
Six more staff members of the King Home have COVID-like symptoms and aren’t working while they wait for test results.
The facility has created a quarantine area for infected patients with a limited number of staff working with them.
