The final numbers are in for this year’s U.S. Venture Open, and the media-thon helped raise more than $4.6 million dollars.
Greg Vandenberg of the U.S. Venture Foundation says they were initially at $4.4 million. That was just short of the $4.5 million goal.
The media-thon was on August 12th, on WHBY and our other Woodward Radio Group stations, along with WBAY TV. Vandenberg says donations and partnerships continued to come in, until last week.
Companies and foundations pledged nearly $2.5 million, basically matching the community’s donations. The funding goes to the Basic Needs Giving Partnership to fight the root causes of poverty.
