Majority Republicans in the Legislature are looking over the governor’s order setting a 25 percent capacity limit, to see if it’s legal.
Senate President Roger Roth of Appleton believes it’s similar to what Evers did to businesses in the spring, under the “safer at home” order. But he says it doesn’t change the fact that people need to wear masks, follow social distancing guidelines, and follow CDC guidelines.
Roth says the more people can do that, and take care of their family members, the less likely the governor will come forward with potentially unlawful orders.
He’s calling the current situation in the state “serious.” He says the surges in cases and hospitalizations that people saw happening in other parts of the country earlier have come to Wisconsin.
