The biggest coronavirus hotspot in the country is still the Oshkosh-Neenah area.
For the second straight week, the latest New York Times list ranks the metro area No. 1. It’s based on the number of cases per capita, over the past two weeks.
Appleton is third on the list, and Green Bay fourth.
Oshkosh Mayor Lori Palmeri says obviously people aren’t getting the message, and their choices are going to determine how things go, moving forward. She’s urging people not to go to weddings, funeral or backyard cookouts.
Palmeri says the city is working with businesses and others to get a consistent message out to the community about what needs to be done to slow the spread.
Eight of the top 20 metro areas are in Wisconsin. Marinette is seventh, Manitowoc 12th, Sheboygan 13th, and Fond du Lac 19th.
