Outagamie County Sheriff’s officials say a driver fell asleep at the wheel of an SUV causing a crash on Highway 47, north of Cicero Road in the town of Cicero.
Officials say the vehicle drove into a ditch and rolled. The 18-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Her 26-year-old passenger was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by crews from the Nichols Fire Department. She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor. The crash happened around 1 a.m. Monday. Both of the women are from Gillett.
