One of the teens convicted of stabbing a classmate to please a fictional character can be released from a mental health facility.
A Waukesha County judge ruled 19-year-old Anissa Weier can be released pending a conditional release plan. He gave state officials 60 days to draw up that plan. Weier will be held at a Winnebago County facility until at least a September 10th hearing.
Weier and Morgan Geyser were 12 when they stabbed a classmate 19 times. She survived. Weier was sentenced to 25 years in a mental health facility. Geyser was sentenced to 40 years.
