The Winnebago County Board will vote tonight on whether to reduce its size. A proposed resolution would reduce the number of supervisory districts by eight–from 36 to 28. Winnebago and Outagamie have the largest county boards in Northeast Wisconsin at 36–with approximately 46-hundred residents per district instead of the ten-thousand recommended by the Wisconsin Counties Association. Wisconsin law allows county boards as large as 47 and as small as 18. If approved, the change would go into effect with the spring elections of 2022.
