Hazardous materials teams are working around Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton following a chemical gas release. It was discovered around 9:00 this morning. The Appleton Fire Department responded and evacuated the emergency room/operation room area. Oshkosh Hazardous Materials Team 109 is now on the scene. Traffic is blocked off from Fremont to Madison. People are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
