The president of the Green Bay Area Public School Board says he will not seek reelection in April.
In a letter, Eric Vanden Heuvel says he won’t seek a second term because of personal and professional challenges that require more of his time. Vanden Heuvel was elected to the board in 2019 and was elected president last year. His term ends next year.
Statement from Eric Vanden Heuvel Regarding April School Board Election:
It has been a tremendous pleasure to serve my community and the Green Bay Area Public
School District (GBAPS) for the past three years. I have made the difficult decision to not seek a
second term due to personal and professional challenges that require more of my time. I am
honored to have led the school district during a period of significant change, including the
hiring of a new superintendent, the opening of the District’s Welcome Center, the repurposing
of Jefferson Elementary into a Head Start Learning Center, and the addition of the GBAPS
Online School 4K-5.
My time on the Board of Education was certainly eventful, but I am proud of everything we
achieved. I want to thank the District staff and my fellow board members for their dedication to
GBAPS students, staff and families. GBAPS is well positioned for future success, and I look
forward to being a champion of the District for years to come.
