A Milwaukee man is in custody for attacking a Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputy.
Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says right around 2:30 p.m. yesterday a deputy was called to the area of I-41 just north of Highway 23 for a report of a suspicious person running in and out of traffic. Waldschmidt says the suspect has mental health issues and attacked the 32-year-old deputy. The deputy suffered a significant knee injury as well as scrapes to his face and hands.
Eventually the deputy was able to handcuff the suspect. The sheriff says the suspect wasn’t hurt but complained of chest pains and both he and the deputy were taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac for treatment.
