Winnebago County Executive John Doemel spent last weekend in the hospital. In a Facebook post, Doemel says he went to Mercy Medical Center Thursday with diverticulitis. He was treated with IV antibiotics and was sent home on Sunday. Doemel adds that he will likely have to undergo surgery at some point in the future to deal with the issue. Diverticulitis is the inflammation of the walls of the intestines.
