A two-hour public comment session highlighted Tuesday’s Green Bay’s Common Council meeting. The big topic of discussion was Alder Chris Wery’s proposed election reforms. Those include receiving and placing on a file any request to discontinue the use of drop-off ballot boxes and refer staff to investigate, research, and report a request excluding outside money and ‘advisors’ for elections. During public comment, Stephanie Birmingham gave a vote of confidence to election workers.
Janet Angus of Green Bay says Mayor Eric Genrich and his administration should resign because of concerns about elections practices.
Council members decided to vote on each proposal separately with some being sent to staff or placed on file. Alders voted in favor of having city staff research parameters of accepting outside grant money.
