(MADISON, WI)–Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is calling for cooperation with Republican lawmakers to find common ground on gun safety.
That calls comes following a deadly attack by a lone gunman at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday. That left two teachers and 19 students dead. Governor Evers called for immediate action to prevent a similar tragedy.
“Enough has been enough for too damn long,” Evers said. “We cannot accept that gun violence just happens. We cannot accept that kids might go to school and never come home. Our families are living in fear. Our kids are learning in fear.”
The governor made those comments on his Twitter page @GovEvers. His full comments can be found by clicking the Twitter link below.
Today, I’m speaking to you not as an elected official, but as a dad of three kids and a grandfather of nine. I’m speaking to you today as a former teacher. I’m speaking to you today as an American.
