OSHKOSH, Wis–The Oregon and Jackson Street Bridge in Oshkosh is closed this afternoon. The Department of Transportation is looking into suspected gear teeth damage within the mechanism that raises the drawbridge for boats. The problem was discovered during a routine inspection on Wednesday.
One side of the bridge will be raised to allow boat traffic to pass through along the Fox River. Drivers are being detoured to other bridges in downtown Oshkosh.
A timetable for repair and reopening of the bridge has not been set.
