OSHKOSH, WI — Oshkosh helps move forward a tiny house village to aid homeless families. Common Council members approved a rezoning request for a three-and-a-half acre site on the South Side of West Packer Avenue.
The Oshkosh Kids Foundation plan calls from building 32 one-story units, a community center and public gathering spaces, including playgrounds. Foundation President Will Deppiesse says the location is close to the resources and opportunities their clients need.
Some who work nearby, however, asked council members to give the matter more consideration. Oshkosh Kennel Club member Cindy Bohnert says her group is concerned about plan for a regular police presence in the area and potential impacts on neighboring properties.
The Oshkosh Common Council voted unanimously to grant the rezoning request.
