MADISON, Wis–The state Supreme Court rules a boy charged in connection with a mall shooting in Wauwatosa should be tried as an adult. The court says a Milwaukee County Judge erred in denying prosecutors’ motion to have the boy waived into adult court.
The suspect was 15-years old when he allegedly shot eight people at the Mayfair Mall in November of 2020. The state Court of Appeals also ruled that the judge needs to reconsider the waiver request.
If tried and convicted as an adult, the boy would face prison time. As a juvenile, he would only face state supervision until he turns 18. His name is not being released as long as he stays in the juvenile justice system.
