MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Nearly two weeks before Wisconsin’s Aug. 9 primary, Milwaukee Bucks executive Alex Lasry announces he’s ending his campaign to the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination and throwing his support behind Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes.
Lasry made that announcement during a news conference with Barnes outside of the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
Lasry informed Barnes in a phone call of his decision to step aside. Barnes says he was surprised and honored.
Lasry says he’s not looking at the suspension of his campaign as a defeat.
Lasry’s decision comes two days after Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson ended his U.S. Senate campaign.
