WAUPACA, Wis–A special prosecutor is appointed to review an investigation into the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office. District Attorney Veronica Isherwood says the prosecutor will review the state’s investigation for possible criminal charges.
Sheriff Tim Wilz ordered the investigation amid allegations that his department altered police reports without informing prosecutors or defense attorneys handling those cases. The sheriff has issued his own statement today (Monday), claiming that he has requested a Department of Justice investigation of the District Attorney’s office–and accusing Isherwood of a campaign stunt on the eve of the election.
Wilz is facing a challenge tomorrow (Tuesday) from Sergeant Cameron Durrant.
