APPLETON, Wis–The city of Appleton is extending the bidding period for construction of the new public library by another three weeks. The city will now accept bids through September 20th.
Initial bids on the project have far exceeded the original price tag of 40-million dollars, forcing the Library Board to consider removing some features of the new building, or to look at private fundraising to cover cost overruns.
Supply chain issues have also delayed the potential start of the library work. Most of the materials have been moved to a temporary location on Kensington Drive.
